The coastal village of Marathokambos on Samos’ SW side is the port of the traditional village of the same name located a bit inland amphitheatre-like in the foothills of Mt. Kerketeas, embraced by an unmistakably Aegean landscape.
The charming seafront with its fishing boats, beach taverns and nearby beaches mean you can relax and unwind at the water’s edge, soaking up the sun and enjoying the water, fresh fish and local delicacies.
Just 4km away lies the village with its stone houses and flower-filled courtyards, quaint winding lanes, traditional water fountains and arches, and the imposing church of St. Anthony (Agios Antonios) in the village square. Here guests can find supermarkets, the local doctor’s surgery, a pharmacy, a hairdresser’s salon, gift shops, the post office as well as numerous taverns and bars.
A series of nearby beaches (some sandy, some pebbly) mean you can relish the sea on Samos’ SW and W coasts. Starting off from the hotel, in just 50m away, you will find a number of beautiful, non organised beaches with easy access and perfect for swimming. Continuing from the small, protected beach at Marathokambos Bay with its crystal clear waters, you will discover a series of beaches offering on-beach services, that runs all the way to the island’s western tip. First is Kambos Marathokambou beach (also known as Votsalakia Beach), a pebbly beach with taverns, cafés and beach bars, then comes the lovely sandy Psili Ammos Beach (also known as Chryssi Ammos Beach) which is an ideal spot to watch the sunset from. It’s just 6.5km from the hotel. Next is Limnionas beach, just 8.8km from the hotel, with crystal clear waters and taverns right at the water’s edge. Awarded with a blue flag, Balos is a 400 m. pebbly beach in the south, approx. 2 kms from Koumeika.
As you head further westward, you’ll come to two beaches usually devoid of people close to the village of Paleochori: Katergo Beach and the beach in front of Agios Ioannis Eleimonas Monastery (17.5km from the hotel).
On the W side of the island (some 22.9km from the hotel) lies the even more remote Varsamos Beach, which comes as an unexpected surprise, embraced by colourful rocks and enjoying clean, crystal clear waters.
